This position is focused on the mechanical design, development, and manufacturing of stationary and mobile antenna systems and related equipment.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Works as part of an integrated product team under the direction of a lead Mechanical Engineer and Program Manager.
- Perform hands-on design and analysis, and mentor junior engineers.
- Prepare and present design and analysis material during internal and customer design reviews.
- Prepare detailed product manufacturing documentation such as test procedures and assembly instructions.
- Support component and antenna system level environmental testing.
- Interface with ThinKom production personnel and outside suppliers during the manufacturing phase of programs.
- Support business development activities by providing input for proposals.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and/or Experience Needed
- BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in the field of Mechanical Engineering and product design and development.
- Experienced in designing for producibility, reliability, and ease of assembly and maintenance.
- Experienced in the design and analysis of positioner drive systems is preferred.
- Knowledge in the areas of materials, structural and thermal analysis, dynamics, vibration and mechanical shock, heat transfer, finite element analysis, and composite structures.
- Knowledge of metal fabrication techniques such as machining, forming, casting, injection molding, and additive manufacturing.
- Knowledge of fasteners, adhesives, coatings, and related industry specifications.
- Solid modeling, engineering drawing, geometric dimensioning, and tolerancing. Experience with Creo is preferred.
- Well versed in configuration management.
- Technically proficient in MS Office products.

- Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in written form.
- Interpersonal skills to effectively work with ThinKom personnel as well as suppliers and customers.
- Ability to effectively present information in team meetings and design reviews.
Additional Requirements
- Must be eligible to obtain and hold a US DoD Security Clearance in support of US Government contracts/subcontracts.
- Follow ThinKom corporate policies and design procedures.
Physical Demands
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
- This position uses a computer terminal to access, input, and retrieve data.
- This position may be subject to interruptions that may cause a change in immediate priorities and/or work focus.
- While performing duties of this position, employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, and/or bend.
- May occasionally lift and/or move files or boxes up to 50 pounds.
- May be subjected to occasional irregular or extended work hours.
- May be required to sit for extended lengths of time.
- Must be able to work in an environment that maybe subject to occasional loud noises, hazardous materials, chemicals, and electromagnetic energy.
