Senior RF Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary

This position is focused on the mechanical design, development, and manufacturing of stationary and mobile antenna systems and related equipment.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Works as part of an integrated product team under the direction of a lead Mechanical Engineer and Program Manager.
• Perform hands-on design and analysis, and mentor junior engineers.
• Prepare and present design and analysis material during internal and customer design reviews.
• Prepare detailed product manufacturing documentation such as test procedures and assembly instructions.
• Support component and antenna system level environmental testing.
• Interface with ThinKom production personnel and outside suppliers during the manufacturing phase of programs.
• Support business development activities by providing input for proposals.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills and/or Experience Needed

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in the field of Mechanical Engineering and product design and development.
• Experienced in designing for producibility, reliability, and ease of assembly and maintenance.
• Experienced in the design and analysis of positioner drive systems is preferred.
• Knowledge in the areas of materials, structural and thermal analysis, dynamics, vibration and mechanical shock, heat transfer, finite element analysis, and composite structures.
• Knowledge of metal fabrication techniques such as machining, forming, casting, injection molding, and additive manufacturing.
• Knowledge of fasteners, adhesives, coatings, and related industry specifications.
• Solid modeling, engineering drawing, geometric dimensioning, and tolerancing.  Experience with Creo is preferred.
• Well versed in configuration management.
• Technically proficient in MS Office products.

• Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in written form.
• Interpersonal skills to effectively work with ThinKom personnel as well as suppliers and customers.
• Ability to effectively present information in team meetings and design reviews.

Additional Requirements

• Must be eligible to obtain and hold a US DoD Security Clearance in support of US Government contracts/subcontracts.
• Follow ThinKom corporate policies and design procedures.

• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
• This position uses a computer terminal to access, input, and retrieve data.
• This position may be subject to interruptions that may cause a change in immediate priorities and/or work focus.
• While performing duties of this position, employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, and/or bend.
• May occasionally lift and/or move files or boxes up to 50 pounds.
• May be subjected to occasional irregular or extended work hours.
• May be required to sit for extended lengths of time.
• Must be able to work in an environment that maybe subject to occasional loud noises, hazardous materials, chemicals, and electromagnetic energy.

Salary Range - $100,000 - $140,000
